About this specialty
The PADI Drift Diver specialty teaches techniques for safe and efficient diving in ocean currents. Many of the world’s best dive sites have currents, and this specialty allows you to take advantage of these conditions for spectacular dives with minimal physical effort.
During 2 days of practical training, you will learn to read and interpret currents, entry and exit techniques in currents, use specific signals for drift diving, and group safety procedures. The course includes navigation with currents, position control, and communication with the support boat.
As a certified Drift Diver, you will have access to some of the most exciting dives in the world, including encounters with large pelagic fish that are attracted to nutrient-rich currents. This specialty is essential for divers who want to explore locations such as the Maldives, Palau, and other destinations famous for their drift dives.
